As everyone has their favorites, here are our favorite picks for top 10 songs by BTS. For your information, this is a personal choice ranking and has nothing to do with streams and views count. Let’s start the countdown:
This catchy song was released back in 2017 as the lead single from the band’s fifth extended play Love Yourself: Her. The song opens with a whistle and the beats start to drop slowly as the song continues. According to RM, DNA revolves around the expression of young and passionate love. Although the song is in Korean, the lyrics really hit hard for some who are in love.
The English translation of the song goes, “I recognized you at first sight/ As if we brought each other together/ The DNA in my veins tells me/ That you are the one I was looking for…” I mean who came up with these lyrics. The music video currently has 1.2 Billion views on Youtube with over 19 Million likes.
9. Blood, Sweat and Tears
This really sounds like the full form of BTS right? But actually no. Blood, Sweat, and Tears is a song from the band’s second studio album, Wings. It was released in 2016, raving positive reviews from all around. The music video of the song captures Renaissance art from the European museum, and they start dancing and singing.
They are also seen drinking colorful elixirs, wearing blindfolds, recreating biblical images, growing wings, etc. Overall, the song has been beautifully directed. The lyrics try to express the pain of addictive love. The lyrics go like this, “Kiss me on the lips/ A secret just between the two of us/ Deeply poisoned by the jail of you/ I cannot worship anyone but you and I knew/ The grail was poisoned but I drank it anyway…” Man that was deep, not gonna lie.
8. Black Swan
Released in 2020, Black Swan is the song from the band’s fourth Korean language studio album, Map of Seoul: 7. The music video is set in a theatre, and the concept kind of draws similarities to a 2010 movie of the same name, featuring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis. The song expresses their artistry and the shadows they have once hidden.
It sounds like a dark but very personal song, and beautifully written and vocalized. The lyrics go like this, “An ocean where daylight never touched/ My lost feet stuck in the mundane/ Every noise, every sound becomes filled with pain/ Killing me now/ Do you hear me?”
7. Life Goes On
Life Goes On is such a calming song and it really deserved to be on the list. Released in 2020, the music video collected over 71 Million views in the first 24 hours. The song was released during the pandemic, and it is said that the lyrics of this song aimed to bring hope and uplift the listener’s spirit during the hard COVID-19 pandemic. The song also peaked number 1 in Billboard Hot 100 and was very popular in Tiktok.
The phrases used in this song, such as “on my pillow”, “in the forest” and “like an arrow”, became amazingly popular. The music video shows all seven of them spending and enjoying their time in the house as there is a lot of chaos outside. The lyrics go like, “One day, the world stopped/ Without any warning/ Spring didn’t know to wait/ Showing up not even a minute late/ Streets erased of footprints/ I lie here, fallen to the ground/ Time goes by on its own/ Without a single apology…”
This must be one of the catchiest songs ever. Just the first line gives so much energy that you feel like vibing to the whole song again and again. The beats are so amazing, that you feel like shaking your legs and showing your dancing skills. The song is so good that even Jamaican rapper, Nicki Minaj, has featured in the alternate version.
It’s a fun, moody and a very energetic song, and if this is ever played in clubs and discos, it will be so illegal to not dance to this. The music video currently has over 929 Million views on YouTube with over 16 Million likes. This song is about loving yourself and not caring about how other people criticize you. The lyrics goes like, “You can call me artist/ You can call me idol/ No matter what you call me/ I don’t care/ I’m proud of it/ I’m free/ No more irony/ Cuz I was always just me…” Now that’s some badass lyrics.
5. Fake Love
Probably one of the saddest songs of BTS, it’s a beautiful blend of emotions and love. The song is about love that was thought to be true and real, but turned out to be fake. The music video has amazing choreography and the singers really expressed some great expressions. It currently holds over 938 Million views on Youtube with over 16 Million likes. The song also peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The lyrics go like this, “For you, I could pretend like I was happy when I was sad/ For you, I could pretend like I was strong when I was hurt/ I wish love was perfect as love itself/ I wish all my weakness could be hidden/ I grew a flower that can’t be bloomed in a dream that can’t come true…” I mean the lyrics are pretty damn deep.
4. Mic Drop
As they say when you get fame, not only fans but there are also going to be a lot of haters. We are familiar with people hating on BTS for no reason, and this song sounds like a perfect reply to all the haters. Mic Drop also dropped a very popular line among the BTS Armies, and that is, “Haters gonna hate/ Players gonna play/ Live a life, man/ Good Luck.” The song was remixed by American DJ Steve Aoki, and the beats are so good that you will feel like listening to it again and again.
RM said that the song was inspired by former US President Barack Obama when he dropped his mic at his last White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2016. The song also celebrates their success by winning different trophies and accolades. The lyrics go like, “Another trophy, my hands carry ‘em/ Too many that I can’t even count ‘em/ Mic Drop, Mic Drop/ Careful of your feet, careful of what you say/ Somebody stops me, I’m ‘outta pop off/ Too busy, you know my body ain’t enough…” Sounds like a perfect reply to haters.
Released in 2020, Dynamite broke the record for most-viewed video within 24 hours on YouTube with over 101 Million views on the first day, until it was surpassed by their other song “Butter” in 2021. The song also debuted number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and not only that, but it also gave BTS their first Grammy nomination, but lost to Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain On Me.” The song was kind of disco pop and people did jam to it during the quarantine.
The song garnered 1 Billion views in less than 8 months and currently has over 28 Million likes. This is also their first song which is completely in the English language. The lyrics go like, “Cause I, I, I’m in the stars tonight/ So watch me bring the fire and set the night alight/ Shoes on, get up in the morn’/ Cup of milk let’s rock and roll/ King Kong, kick the drum/ Rolling on like a Rolling Stone/ Sing song when I’m walking home/ Jump up to the top, LeBron…” The song became so popular that the German football club Bayern Munich captioned it in their picture when they won UEFA Champions League in 2020.
This must be one of the most underrated songs by BTS. Although it is performed solo by the band member, Jungkook, the song carries so much soul in it that you can’t just hate it. The lyrics are beautifully written and Jungkook really delivers some very strong vocals. The song had so much impact that it trended worldwide when it was released, and the search for the word “Euphoria” increased by 2883%. Now that is insane.
Although the official music video has only over 79 Million views, which is comparatively less than other BTS’s songs, the song really captures a lot of feelings. The translated lyrics go like this, “You are the sunlight that rose in my life/ A reincarnation of my childhood dreams/ I don’t know what these emotions are/ Am I still dreaming?/ There is a green oasis in the desert/ Apriori deep inside of me/ I’m so happy, I can’t breathe/ Everything Is getting blurry… Take my hands now/ You are the cause of my euphoria…” The song gained more attention when it was played in the first season finale episode of HBO’s series, Euphoria, featuring Zendaya and Hunter Schafer.
1. Boy With Luv
Boy With Luv also features American singer, Halsey, and hence has topped our list. You will just love this when you first listen to it, because of how properly the song is performed. From music to choreography, everything is on point. When I first heard this song, I immediately felt like learning the dance steps because they are so neatly done by the 7 boys and Halsey. In fact, there is also an official version of the song called “ARMY with Luv”, which was dedicated to the fandom.
I mean if ARMYs love BTS, then they also love ARMYs. The music video has over 1.2 Billion views on YouTube with over 22 Million likes. It is a happy song, and the translation of the song goes like, “I’m flying high up in the sky/ With the two wings that you gave me back then/ Now it’s so high up here/ I want you tuned in to my eyes/ Yeah, you making me a boy with Luv…”
