Recap of Season 2:
Money Heist season 3 picked up from the final episode of season 2, where we saw Gandia shoot Nairobi and she dies, which infuriates the other gang members and captures him. While talking about the Professor, he was caught by Alicia Sierra, after he exposes how she unlawfully tortured Rio. As a result, the public turns against her, and she points the gun to the Professor. While the police try to get inside the Bank of Spain, Lisbon tricks everyone and she gets inside the bank. Now the whole team rages a war against the system as a revenge for Nairobi.
Premise of Season 3 or some may say season 5:
In the third season, we get to explore a lot of different things. We get to see more about Tokyo, the main lead and also the narrator of the series. It is shown that Tokyo was in love with a boy named Rene, and together they have conducted about 13 successful heists, but unfortunately during a heist, Rene was shot by the police, and to protect herself, Tokyo killed a policeman. This makes her a murderer, and she hides from everyone in a small vanity van.
On the other hand, we see Professor and Berlin watching the news about Tokyo, and Berlin says that she is the perfect one for the heist and can lead the team. At first, Professor hesitates as she is a murderer, but soon talks to her and she is recruited.
Berlin’s son, Rafael, is also introduced and he makes him steal the gold with the help of his ex-wife Tatiana. As a result, they are successful in stealing the gold, and although Rafael was not a fan of Berlin being a criminal, he agrees to work for him now as he enjoys the adventure.
In the present, we see Professor, being captured by Alicia Sierra, and when Marseille and Benjamin come to the hideout to meet Professor, they are also captured by Alicia. But in the middle, her water breaks as she is pregnant, so Professor, with the help of Marseille and Benjamin, delivers Alicia’s baby himself. Alicia names her daughter Victoria, and it looks like she is also going to be a part of their team.
Inside the Bank of Spain, we see the robbers fighting for life, and at one point Tokyo, Stockholm and Lisbon come out of the bank to raise a white flag as a sign of them giving up. But as they go back inside, Arturo, with some other hostages, steals the guns and blindly starts firing everywhere, which injures Denver and some hostages. Arturo also uses different weapons like grenades and machine guns to fire at the robbers, but Stockholm shoots him and his heartbeat stops. But he gains back his pulses and is rushed out the Bank of Spain along with some hostages.
Assuming that Arturo is dead, Stockholm gets into a trauma as she believes that she killed someone, which makes her weak. But after some time, Gandia breaks inside the bank along with the Spanish military force, and attacks the robber. At this point, they fire Tokyo with multiple bullets and when Gandia gets a hand on her, we see that she was wearing grenades, and it explodes killing Tokyo and Gandia. Everyone is left shocked and the part ends here.
Is Tokyo really dead?
After this scene, even the viewers are left shocked as they never expected Tokyo to die. Although it was a very heroic act done by her, this has left the viewers to wonder what really is coming in the upcoming final part. It is clearly shown that the bomb explodes and Tokyo dies, but some fans have theories regarding her death.
Just before Tokyo was fighting with the military, we saw Rio make a hole on the ceiling to get to Tokyo, but she waves her goodbye to him. So, some fans think that she immediately went down the hole that was dug by Rio, hence keeping her alive.
Another conspiracy theory suggests that Tokyo’s death is just a hallucination of Stockholm. After Stockholm is left traumatized thinking that she killed Arturo, she suffers from PTSD and starts to hallucinate Arturo everywhere. So, some fans think that Tokyo’s death is not real and she may actually be alive.
While some fans say that she is actually dead and she was narrating the whole series from the grave.
But we cannot say anything as of now, as we really don’t know how the story is going to progress in the final part. The second volume of this season is going to come out on 3rd December, 2021.
