10 Series To Watch During Lockdown

You know right, how we all are stuck in our homes with nothing to do, and we don’t know how long this is going to last. Well, sit back and turn on your device to watch some of the best series available.

Here are some of my picks for the best series I have watched and would like to recommend you guys. The list is not a ranking, it’s just a list of some of my favorite series. So here we go:-

1. Peaky Blinders:

IMDb: 8.8/10

“On a gathering storm comes a tall handsome man, with a dusty black coat and red right hand…” The opening theme itself is epic, just imagine how good the show is. It is a British period crime drama series and set in Birmingham, England. The story follows the exploits of the Shelby crime family in the direct aftermath of the First World War.

The fictional family is loosely based on a real urban youth gang of the same name, who were active in the city from the 1890s to the early 20th century. Pretty sure at some point, you will want to dress up like them and speak in a strong British accent. You will say, “By the orders of Peaky Blinders” before doing anything. There total 5 seasons, and the 6th season is to be released soon.

2. Dark:

IMDb: 8.8/10

Nobody realized this hidden gem until the pandemic started and everyone was stuck in their home, trying to find new shows to watch. Dark really is a masterpiece in terms of its theme and scientific accuracy. If you are a geek for time travelling, trust me this show is just the ultimate destination for you.

Dark is a German series where the characters unravel a time travel conspiracy that spans for several generations. It shows how time travel affects the life of humans. It has three seasons with 26 episodes. But even after watching the complete series, you will find it hard to explain the whole plot to someone.

3. The Crown:

IMDb: 8.7/10

If you like history, you will like The Crown. This series  is about the currently reigning queen of the United Kingdom, Queen Elizabeth II. The show tells the story of her becoming the monarch of one of the most powerful empires of the world. It also tells about her personal life, her relationship with her husband, Prince Phillip, her son Charles, her sister, Margaret, etc.

In the later seasons, Princess Diana is introduced, who is one of the most loved humans around the world. It also shows the relationship of Prince Charles with Diana and his mistress, Camilla. Later Margaret Thatcher is also introduced. Overall, the show has received critical acclaim for its writing, cinematography, acting, score, etc. The leads Claire Foy and Olivia Colman have given amazing performances, with them winning different accolades.

4. The Haunting of Hill House:

IMDb: 8.6/10

The Haunting of Hill House is an American horror series that is loosely based on the novel of the same name. It tells the story of the Craig family, who lives in a haunted hill house during their childhood, and experiences a lot of paranormal activities, and how it affected their life in the present day.

The show has been critically acclaimed for its scary atmosphere and it is not some kind of cliché jumps care show, but you have to focus on a lot of things while watching this. Also don’t get spooked out because there are so many ghosts in the background, and once you see them, you won’t be able to unseen it again.

5. Euphoria:

IMDb: 8.4/10

Since Game of Thrones ended in such a bad way, HBO gave us one of the best and biggest show called Euphoria, starring the gorgeous Zendaya and Hunter Schafer along with Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demi, Storm Reid, Angus Cloud, Barbie Ferreira, Algee Smith, Sydney Sweeney, Maude Apatow, etc. This show deals with strong subjects like drugs, sex, teenage, friendship, love, trauma, etc. Zendaya delivers one of the best acting that made her win her first Emmy Award, making her the youngest actress to win in that category.

The makeup, aesthetics, outfits have played a major role in grabbing the eyeballs of many youths, and as the story progresses, we get to see the backstory of every character in detail. Also the OSTs composed by Labyrinth, adds cherry on the top. Overall, it is a beautiful show and we all are waiting for the 2nd season to air soon

6. Sex Education:

IMDb: 8.3/10

Sex Education is British comedy drama series about an insecure teenager, Otis Milburn, who is ambivalent about sex as his mother is a sex therapist. He teams up with a classmate, Maeve, and helps other students with their sexual problems. The show has altogether two seasons, and it is also critically acclaimed for its storyline and portrayal of various topics. It has two seasons, 8 episodes each season.

7. Money Heist:

IMDb: 8.3/10

This Emmy Award winning Spanish series tells the story of a group of robbers, led by a Professor, and commits heist in the Royal Mint of Spain (in the 1st season) and Bank of Spain (in the 2nd season). It is narrated by the leading protagonist, Tokyo, who joins the group after failing to commit a robbery by herself. Over the course of the show, a lot of flashback scenes are shown, and tell the backstory of every character.

The characters deal with different emotions during the heist, even up to falling in love with the hostages and police. The red jumpsuit with the mask of Salvador Dali have been so popular since the show came out and the Italian song ‘Bella Ciao’ has become an anthem to fight against the system around the world.

8. The End of the F***ing World:

IMDb: 8.1/10

This two seasoned show is a British dark comedy drama, that tells the story of James and Alyssa, both having a similar type of dilemma in the real world. James is a boy who believes that he is psychopath, and Alyssa is his classmate. They both run away from their home and have their own adventure, making them fall in love with each other. You will have mixed feelings watching this show, as you’ll never know what’s gonna happen next. Sometimes you are gonna laugh, and sometimes cry, and sometimes you cheer and sometimes you are gonna be like “Oh Sh!t”. There are only 16 episodes, so you will finish this series really soon.

9. Dirilis: Ertugrul:

IMDb: 7.9/10

Translated as Resurrection: Ertugrul, is an epic Turkish drama that tells the story of Ertugrul, father of Osman, the founder of Ottoman Empire. The show is widely popular around the world, for showcasing the real Islam and it’s values. The show is so influential that there has been cases of people converting into Islam after watching this show. It is so good that even the Venezuelan President and Pakistani PM are a fan of this show. It is widely considered as Turkish Game of Thrones. The show has altogether 5 seasons, and you will fall in love with the characters such as Turgut Alp, Bamsi, Selcan Hatun, Halima Hatun, Hayme Ana, Suleiman Shah, Aykiz, Helena, etc.

10. You:

IMDb: 7.7/10

You is a psychological thriller that tells the story of Joe Goldberg, a bookstore manager and a serial killer. He falls in love with a customer named Guinevere and develops an extremely toxic obsession with her. The second season shows Joe falling in love with a local heiress, Love Quinn, and the third season is to be released sometime around 2021. The show has also received some backlash over people simp over a serial killer, but the overall response was positive. And every episode will keep you hooked up to the story.
