Sarah Harding, the English singer, model and actress, who is popularly known as a band member of one the most popular British band, Girls Aloud, passed away on Sunday due to breast cancer.
Last year in August, Harding revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer, and it has spread to other parts of her movie. She also revealed that the doctors told her she would not see another Christmas.
The news of Sarah’s death broke out in a post on her personal Instagram account, which was made by her mother, Marie. Marie posted a black and white picture od Harding, and wrote:
“It’s with deep heartbreak that today I’m sharing the news that my beautiful daughter Sarah has sadly passed away. Many of you will know of Sarah’s battle with cancer and that she fought so strongly from her diagnosis until her last day. She slipped away peacefully this morning. I’d like to thank everyone for their kind support over the past year. It meant the world to Sarah and it gave her great strength and comfort to know she was loved. I know she won’t want to be remembered for her fight against this terrible disease – she was a bright shining star and I hope that’s how she can be remembered instead.”
Nadine Coyle, Sarah’s bandmate in Girls Aloud, also took to her Instagram and shared a picture of Harding, writing:
“I am absolutely devastated!! I can’t think of words that could possibly express how I feel about this girl & what she means to me!! I know so many of you will be feeling this way. For now I’m sending so much love to you!!!”
In an extract from her memoir Hear Me Out which was published in the Times earlier this year, Harding writes, “In December my doctor told me that the upcoming Christmas would probably be my last.” She also said that she did not want an exact prognosis, and just comfort and pain-free.
Harding was born on 17th November 1981 and rose to fame in 2002 when Sarah Harding auditioned for the ITV reality show Popstars: The Rivals. In the show, she was placed in a girl group called Girls Aloud, along with Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Tweedy, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh.
The band released their first single “Sound of the Underground”, which went to number 1 in the UK Singles Chart. Together with the band, Harding has altogether five studio albums: Sound of the Underground, What Will The Neighbors Say?, Chemistry, Tangles Up, and Out of Control.
