Since the start of 2021, Olivia Rodrigo has been headlining every news regarding music. All thanks to her smash hit “Driver’s License” that gave her worldwide attention. Now, Rodrigo has graduated from high school. Let us get into it.
The 18 year old Billboard topper recently graduated from her high school and shared some of her pictures on Instagram. The pictures were polaroids where Rodrigo is seen making a peace sign in the first one, while making a silly face in the second picture. Apart from these two pictures the third photo is a picture of SUV with the words “Just Graditated” written on the back window.
Rodrigo captioned the post saying “bye high school!!!!!!!”. The 18 year old hit maker looks very proud in her blue graduation suit and hat. As Rodrigo is just eighteen years old, this is the beginning of her higher education, but she is already very successful in her life due to her music and acting career.
Under the post, many of the popular celebrities congratulated her. “Heather” singer Conan Gray jokingly writes, “she can read 😍😍😍”. While “Old Town Road” singer Lil Nas X claps with a few emojis and writes, “👏👏👏”. The music channel MTV writes, “CONGRATS OMG SORRY I’M LATE”.
Other celebrities who congratulated her are Luke Mullens, Frankie A, Rodriguez, Julia Lester, Joshua Rush, Joe Serafini, Benjamin Royer, Emmy Perry, Dara Renee, Matthew Royer, Roman Wellington Banks, Siena Agudong, Brye, Larsen Thompson, Mike Avenaim, to name a few.
Upon leaving the high school, Rodrigo says, “I have like a month left of senior year, and I’ve sort of been neglecting that, because I’ve been off making my album, I sort of forgot I was a high school student.”
Even though she is no longer a high school student, Rodrigo is still a high school student in the Disney+ series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. In the show, she portrays the character of Nini Salazer-Roberts, who gets selected to play the character of Gabriella, originally played by Vanessa Hudgens in High School Musical. As of now, the second season of the show has premiered, and this season follows the play of Beauty and the Beast, where Rodrigo’s character is playing the role of Belle.
The teenage star Rodrigo has worked really hard this year and all of her hard work is seen in her success. Following the success of “Driver’s License”, Rodrigo released two other songs: “Deja Vu” and “Good 4 U”. The former peaked at number 3 in the Billboard Hot 100, while the latter peaked at number 1, making it her second number 1 hit.
This May, Rodrigo released her first studio album, Sour, which eventually went on to become the number 1 album on the Billboard Chart. Other songs that peaked from the album are: “Traitor” on number 9, “Jealousy Jealousy” on number 24, and “Brutal” on number 12. The bridge from “Driver’s License” has also been listed as the third best bridge of the 21st century, leaving behind popular singers like The Weeknd, Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, Kanye West, etc.
Before getting the immense success, Olivia was cast as Grace Thomas in the movie An American Girl: Grace Stirs Up Success. After that, she landed the main role of Paige Olvera in the Disney Channel sitcom, Bizaardvark, alongside Madsion Hu, DeVore Ledridge, Jake Paul and Ethan Wacker. Her big break came with High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and while doing the show, she was romantically linked with her co-star Joshua Bassett, who plays Ricky in the show. It is assumed that “Driver’s License” is about Bassett, after they broke up, and he started dating Girl Meets World fame actress Sabrina Carpenter.
The drama of Rodrigo, Bassett and Carpenter became so huge that they were cited as Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas and Miley Cyrus of the present generation. After the release of “Driver’s License”, Carpenter released her song “Skin”, which was a reply to Rodrigo’s hit song. Soon after this, Bassett released his song “Lie Lie Lie”, which further sparked the controversy.
Whatever drama they have been facing in their personal life, we cannot deny the fact that each three of them are very talented. We congratulate Olivia Rodrigo for completing her high school, and we wish her all the best for her future.
