Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, professionally known by her stage name Halsey, just announced her first pregnancy a few months back, and is seen enjoying her maternity a lot these days. On Tuesday, she revealed the album art for her new upcoming album. Let us get into it.
Halsey has had a huge success in her music career with songs like “Without Me”, “Closer”, “Gasoline”, “Colors”, “Nightmare”, “Graveyard”, etc, and is known for her own artist point of view music design. She is currently pregnant with her Turkish boyfriend, Alev Aydin, and are soon expecting their first child.
After giving albums like “Badlands”, “Hopeless Fountain Kingdom” and “Manic”, the 26 year-old-singer is all set to release her fourth studio album, which is titled as “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power”.
On 28th June, Halsey took to her Instagram and shared a short sample from one of the songs from the album, along with a huge hoarding board where the name of the album is written.
Under the post, she writes:
“If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power
The FOURTH album by Halsey
Produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross”
The post has got over millions of likes, and it looks like even mainstream artists like Olivia Rodrigo and Katy Perry are excited too.
On Tuesday, Frangipane posted the album art where she is seen sitting on a throne, wearing a crown, and holding a child like the Regent Queen Mother. Also, she is seen showing one of her nipples, which has been met with some controversy.
This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth. It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the sentiment of my journey over the past few months. The dichotomy of the Madonna and the Whore. The idea that me as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and gift to my child are two concepts that can co-exist peacefully and powerfully. My body has belonged to the world in many different ways the past few years, and this image is my means of reclaiming my autonomy and establishing my pride and strength as a life force for my human being
This cover image celebrates pregnant and postpartum bodies as something beautiful, to be admired. We have a long way to go with eradicating the social stigma around bodies & breastfeeding. I hope this can be a step in the right direction!
The picture is taken by the photographer Lucas Garrido, and she also gave him credit under the post. Garrido writes
“I’m speechless to be part of this. Thanks @iamhalsey”
She also posted a 13 minute long video on YouTube, where she gave us a tour inside the Metropolitan Music Of Art, and showed some of the Renaissance paintings and artworks in the museum. She mostly focused on maternity artwork, where a woman is seen holding or breastfeeding a child, and she also signifies herself as Mother Mary, and her upcoming child is Jesus Christ.
At the end of the video, she finally uncovers the album art that she posted on her Instagram, which was covered with a red cloth. Ashley is seen wearing a silver dress, wrapped with an orchid yellow shawl.
As explained by Halsey herself, this new album is going to explore motherhood. We are really excited about what she is going to offer this time. Alev Aydin also helped her during the photoshoot, which she posted on her Instagram stories.
Looking at how beautiful the current presentation for the album is, we are really excited for it.
