Every Number 1 Song of 2021 from July to December

Since the year 2021 is coming to an end, we have received a lot of good songs this year. There were a lot of artists who released their songs which received positive responses from the audience as well as the critics. However, very few artists make it to the top, and today we will see which artists paved their way. Let us find out.

We have a separate article for every number 1 song of 2021 from January to June, so let us continue the list of the other half of this year.

Butter - BTS

11 Weeks: June 5 – July 23, July 31 – August 13, September 11 – September 23

“Butter” is the only song this year that made it to the top for ten non-consecutive weeks. The song broke the record of Olivia Rodrigo’s “Driver’s License” that stayed on top for eight consecutive weeks. It really looks like BTS Armys loves the band so much that even after a month of falling from the top position, it went back to the first position. As of now, BTS is on a break from music and we hope that they return back soon.

Permission To Dance - BTS

1 Week: July 24 – July 30

BTS is the only artist this year who replaced themself from the first position. “Permission to Dance” succeeded “Butter”, who were reigning the top position for seven consecutive weeks. However, just after a week, the song was again replaced by “Butter”. It really looks like the fans are really shuffling between these two songs. When the music video of this song was released, it received 72.3 Million views within the first 24 hours making it the seventh most viewed video in the first 24 hours. Now that’s a huge achievement.

Stay - The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber

7 Weeks: August 14 – September 10, September 25 – August 8, October 16 – October 22

“Stay” became The Kid Laroi’s first number one song and Justin Bieber’s eighth song. This year, The Kid Laroi has also received two Grammy Nominations, and he is just 18 right now. It really looks like a lot of younger generations are going to be huge in the upcoming years. The song was also very popular on TikTok and there are a lot of different versions in different languages that were written by different artists worldwide.

Way 2 Sexy - Drake ft. Future and Young Thug

1 Week: September 18 – September 24

Looks like the year 2021 is the year of Bang Tang. After two songs peaked at number one, “My Universe” is the third song of BTS this year that made it to the top. The song also became the sixth number one song of BTS and the second number one song of Coldplay after the year 2008. The music video of “My Universe” is set in the future where music is banned from the world, and both BTS and Coldplay come forward to change the system.

1 Week: October 9 – October 15

This is Drake’s second number one song of the year after “What’s Next” that topped the chart back in March. “Way 2 Sexy” is the lead single from Drake’s sixth studio album Certified Lover Boy. Although the song received mixed to negative reactions due to its sample and lyrics, the song became successful. 

Industry Baby - Lil Nas X and Jack Harlow

1 Week: October 23 – October 29

“Industry Baby” is Lil Nas X’s second number one song of the year after “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” and the song in his career; the first one being “Old Town Road”. The song also features Jack Harlow, and the music video of this song pays tribute to movies like The Shawshank Redemption and Escape from Alcatraz. It has also received a nomination at the 64th Grammy Awards for Best Melodic Rap Performance.

Easy On Me - Adele

7 Weeks: October 30 – November 26, December 4 – December 24

Adele is finally back after a gap of nearly five years in the field of music. Her last last 25 was released back in 2015, and “Easy On Me” is the lead single from her fifth studio album, 30. The 33 year old singer says that this album will explain her divorce with her husband to her son. The lyrics of this song represents Adele’s plea to her son in which she details her struggles with her dissolved marriage and requests him to be kind to her.

All Too Well (Taylor’s Version) - Taylor Swift

1 Week: November 27 – December 3

Taylor Swift finally released her version of her 2012 studio album Red. In the 2012 version, this song was only 5 minutes long, but the Taylor’s Version is 10 minutes long. “All Too Well” explains the story of Swift and her ex-boyfriend and Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal, who dated back in 2010. For the new version, she also released a short film of the same name that features Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien. The Taylor’s Version goes much deeper and explains more about her relationship with Gyllenhaal, and after the song was released, people flooded his comments on his social media with the red scarf emoji.

All I Want For Christmas Is You - Mariah Carey

1 Week: December 25 – Ongoing

If it is Christmas, then it is the time for Mariah Carey to reach the top, which she has been doing for the past few years. The year 2021 began with this song being on top, and it also ended with the song being on top. Now that is how powerful and beautiful this song is, although it was released back in 1994.

Hence, these are the nine songs that have become the number one songs of the year in the second half of 2021. It will be fun to see what songs are going to come up in the new year 2022.
