Bob Odenkirk, who is notably known for his character of Saul Goodman in the hit TV series, Better Call Saul, recently collapsed on the set and was immediately hospitalized. Let’s get into more details about this.
The 59 year old actor is said to have a heart related incident while he was shooting in New Mexico for the sixth and the final season of the series. He was immediately taken to a hospital in Albuquerque and now it is said that he is in a stable condition.
A statement that was issued on Wednesday said, “We can confirm Bob is in stable condition after experiencing a heart related incident.” The statement continues saying, “He and his family would like to express gratitude for the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, as well as his cast, crew and producers who have stayed by his side. The Odenkirks would also like to thank everyone for the outpouring of well wishes and ask for their privacy at this time as Bob works on his recovery.”
With this shocking news, Bryan Cryanston, who played Walter White in the original series Breaking Bad, took to his instagram writing:
“Today I woke up to news that has made me anxious all morning. My friend, Bob Odenkirk collapsed last night on the set of Better Call Saul. He is in the hospital in Albuquerque and receiving the medical attention he needs but his condition is not known to the public as yet. Please take a moment in your day to think about him and send positive thoughts and prayers his way, thank you.”
Also, Aaron Paul, who played Jesse Pinkman in the show, shared a picture of Odenkirk on his Instagram writing, “I love you my friend.”
Michael McKean, who plays Bob’s elder brother Chuck McGill in the show, also took to his twitter writing:
“Sending huge love to our @mrbobodenkirk. You got this, brother.”
David Cross, with whom Odenkirk has worked in a sketch comedy series Mr. Show with Bob and David, that aired on HBO from 1995 to 1998, also took to his twitter writing:
“I will share what I know when I can but Bob is one of the strongest people I know both physically and spiritually. He WILL get through this.”
After finding out that Odenkirk’s health has improved, Cross tweeted, “Bob won”.
Mckean also tweeted, writing, “We are all sharing a great big sigh of relief, right?”
Shortly after the above statement was released, Odenkirk’s son, Nate Odenkirk, tweeted:
“He’s going to be okay.”
Better Call Saul is the spin-off of Breaking Bad, which is considered as the greatest show on television, with multiple awards including 16 Emmy Awards and 2 Golden Globes. The show is currently shooting its sixth and the final season, which is most likely to air next year in 2022.
Odenkirk has also received critical acclaim for portraying the character of Saul Goodman in the show for which he has been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in the Primetime Emmy Awards four times in a row.
He is also the recipient of two Primetime Emmy Awards in the category of Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series: one of Saturday Night Live and the other one for The Ben Stiller Show.
