Top 10 Best Dressed Celebrities at the Met Gala 2022

The most extravagant night of Hollywood and fashion, the Met Gala, was finally held on 2nd May, continuing the tradition of being held on the first Monday of May. The last event was held in September 2021 due to the COVID–19 pandemic, and it just felt like yesterday if we recall how quickly the time passed. The theme for this year was “Gilded Glamour and White Tie”. Hundreds of well known faces from Hollywood arrived at the event while some missed it. Today we will be talking about who were the best dressed celebrities at the Met this year.

The theme for this year was specifically about the Gilded Age of the United States, which was roughly between the years 1870 and 1990. This was the time when a rapid economic growth took place in the Northern and Western United States. This period of time also saw an influx of millions of European immigrants as the American wages grew much higher than those in Europe.

During the Gilded Age, upper-class women wore luxury gowns made out of various fabrics like silk, velvet and satin. The accessories include corsets, bustlets, feather-adorned hats and a lot of expensive jewelleries. For men, it was specially tuxedos.

Unfortunately, the guests at the Met Gala this year failed to dress on theme when there were so many options. We saw only very few guests who were dressed according to the theme, and hence made it to our list. So let us start.

10. Dove Cameron:

The former Disney star who broke out into fame from the sitcom Liv & Maddie, attended her first Met Gala this year. The “Boyfriend” singer wore a custom ‘Spiral Nebula’ gown which was designed by Iris Van Herpen. Herpen says, “Her look is inspired by this year’s Met Gala theme of the gilded age that pushed boundaries, embraced innovation and extravaganza through the dressing.” Cameron’s dress was prepared by ten people who worked on her look for 600 hours total.

1. Blake Lively:

When it comes to being ‘iconic’ at the Met Gala, Blake Lively has always been on top every year with her amazing outfits and the graceful beauty. This year she definitely surprised everyone with her dress including her own husband and Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds. She attended the event wearing a bronze gown by Versace. The gown was inspired by Manhattan’s intricate architecture and paid homage to the Empire State Building that was destroyed during the 9/11 attacks. However, the surprise came when she untied the bow to reveal a blue dress that was inspired by the constellation decor at Grand Central Station. It also symbolised the decoloration of the Statue of Liberty, which was originally bronze in color.
